Carol Clark, Office Administrator

Carol has been Westhope’s Office Administrator since 2009. She continues to be a graceful presence to engage the public in our office. Prior to Westhope, she was a Benefits Manager in the semi-conductor industry. She enjoys volunteering in various organizations and started line dancing in 2003. This has become one of her passions. She has been married to, and spoiled by, a wonderful husband for over fifty years.

Martan Mann, Worship Accompanist

Martan has a Master’s Degree in Music from San Jose State University and is a long-time jazz player and piano teacher in the Bay Area and Hawaii.  He has been pianist for Westhope for almost 7 years (and enjoys every minute).  Martan has authored three books on jazz improvisation and currently produces an online course in jazz piano, JazzSkills for Piano.

Raiña Parks, Director of Music Ministries

Raiña earned her MM in Vocal Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.   When she’s not busy being a mother to her sons VJ and Joshie, and wife to her husband Jo, she’s either singing or working as a mechanical engineer.

Rev. Erik Swanson, Pastor

Erik graduated from San Francisco Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity in 1998 and a concentration in Spiritual Formation. Upon graduation, he was called as a pastor of the Colchester Federated Church in Colchester, CT, where he ministered until 2003. He moved to Crookston, MN and was a co-founder of the Minnesota Institute of Contemplation and Healing (MICAH). In 2006, he returned home to Saratoga and was called as pastor of Westhope Presbyterian Church, where he has been working to build and deepen the community ever since. Over the years, Westhope has become an intentionally contemplative and spiritually vibrant ministry under his leadership. He has a degree in the art of Spiritual Direction from the Spiritual Life Center in Bloomfield, CT, and has spent a year studying sacred community in the ecumenical TAIZE monastery in Taize, France. Rev. Swanson has become a sought after teacher, spiritual director, speaker, and retreat leader, teaching at several prominent seminaries, including Princeton, on Spiritual Formation and the art of bringing an awareness of the Holy to all parts of life.

Erik is thrilled to be married to his amazing wife, Lety, and thoroughly enjoys his family time together with their three boys. Erik loves flyfishing, gardening, woodworking and most activities that are out in nature.
